Dr. Luke’s Experience

Based in the United Kingdom, Dr. Luke first started out as an evaluator in the early 2000s, which included interviewing over 200 children and young people on their experience of restorative practice. Afterwards, he became a restorative practitioner working with children at high-risk of exclusion, violence and conflict in London. This work included multi-agency partnerships with youth workers, police, social services, and parents. His passion for restorative practice helped address issues of bullying, cyberbullying, and older peer coercion.

This work was noticed by the Metropolitan Police, and he was asked to help officers become more empathetic towards young people. He went on to Chair the first Youth Led Inquiry in City Hall exploring the risks of cyberbullying and online harm, working with Google, Microsoft the UK games Industry.  This work evolved and became an All-Party Parliamentary Group, with young people's voices at the center to influence politicians in the House of Commons and the Lords.

In 2015, he was asked to address youth violence in the prison service and work with the top four prisons of concern through developing a unique Conflict Resolution model for working with under 18s. This work left a lasting impression on him, and he developed a range of innovative models to support and engage young people across the school to prison production line.  In 2020, having completed his PhD at Cambridge University, he was asked to map the journey of children with care experience, and hearing the voices of these young people is determined to make a change in this system.  He is also author of Leading Schools and Sustaining Innovation: How to think big and differently in complex systems (Routledge, 2024)

As Chief Operations Officer, Dr Luke is committed to ensuring that Highfive products and services meet the needs of school communities by delivering quality experiences and actionable insights to enable schools to thrive through the power of connection.
